I graduated from Emporia State University with my bachelor's degree in 1997. Since then I have attended master's level education classes at K-State and University of Missouri in Kansas City.

I am a new teacher to the Liberal School district. I will be teaching the migrant preschool class at Washington Elementary. I really look forward to getting to know my new students and new community!
Prior to my arrival in Liberal, I acquired 14 years teaching experience. Included in that time were 9 of the last 10 years teaching preschool in the Kansas City,Kansas school district. The 10th year I taught 2nd grade for the Kansas City, Kansas School district. Teaching second grade helped me appreciate how much I love preschool!
Before teaching in Kansas City, I spent three years teaching overseas in an international school. I loved living in a new place and learning a new language. I have the experience of living someplace where I know very little language and have to learn language and learn how to survive. That perspective helps me work with the families of my students that are still learning English.
While teaching in the Kansas City, Kansas school district I worked with children of all abilities and races. I was known for loving to have the students in my room that did not speak the same language as anyone else in the district. I love learning about the new cultures and the new experiences of the families from different places. I also love working with students that maybe challenged mentally or physically. I worked hand in hand with a Special Education teacher and love having children of all abilities in my room.
I am not married and do not have any children. I have a close relationship with my parents from Eastern Kansas and my older brother living in Warrnesburg, Missouri.
I also have 2 "nieces," and 4, "nephews," that my close friends have let me adopt from their families. I enjoy spending time with them and their parents being part of their families.
I love spending time outdoors and doing. Going hiking, camping, or even just for a walk on a nice day are some of my favorite things. When the weather makes that no fun, I love to curl up with a good book and read the hours away. Books can take you so many places that you maybe only able to see in your imagination.
